KIRKSVILLE, MO -- On this Groundhog Day 2013 for one Heartland church, it's a celebration for new beginnings.

The Kirksville Church of Christ hosted an open house Saturday morning.

Participants got to enjoy free "groundhog" gravy and biscuits while enjoying informative displays as the church showcased past events and previewed coming attractions.

The church's staff was very pleased to see the great turnout.

"We had the opportunity to meet up with several of our friends that we haven't seen in awhile. They dropped by and visited us , so it was good to see them," Pastor Dan Green said.

Visitors also got the chance to sign up for the church's new, free online bible courses.
