KIRKSVILLE, MO -- A.T. Still University is teaming up with Cell Phones for Soldiers Inc. and they are now asking for your help.
The university and non-profit are asking Northeast Missouri residents to help troops connect with their loved ones back home, by donating gently-used cell phones.
More than 300,000 troops are serving over seas, and rarely get the opportunity to call back home and talk to their families.
The Student Association of Military Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (SAMOPS) along with Theta Psi are involved in helping make this cell phone drive one of success.
James Scholfield a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S Army and president of the SAMOPS tells us every phone counts.
"Each cell phone, if it can't be sold at hight value is recyclable for about $5 and that can get your about a two hour phone call," Scholfield said. "That depending on how often these soldiers want to talk with their families back home. One phone call could be one month work of calling for one soldier."
You may drop-off your gently used cell phones at several locations around Kirksville:

2. Century 21 Whitney Agency
3. Hy-Vee
4. Wooden Nickel restaurant
5. Steve's Garden Deli
6. Pancake City
7. Mary Immaculate Parish
8. Orscheln Farm and Home
