Teen arrested in New Year's Day stabbing

OTTUMWA, IOWA -- A Heartland teenager is in jail accused of a New Year’s Day stabbing. Police have arrested Duane Heifort, 16, of Ottuwma.

According to the Ottumwa Police Department, on January 1 at 1:30 a.m. they received a report of a stabbing.

When officers arrived at the scene they discovered an individual who had been stabbed multiple times.

Heifort is charged with willful injury, a Class C Felony. He is being held at the Wapello County Jail on at $10,000 cash only bond.
