BROOKFIELD, MO. -- For many colleges or universities the admission process is highly competitive.

But, the word competitive doesn't even begin to describe how tough it is to get into one of the military service academies.

So tough that just being nominated is an accomplishment, something one Brookfield student can now claim.

The office of Missouri Congressman Sam Graves announced this week that Micah Blakely has been nominated to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado next year.

Blakely is the son of David and Cindy Blakely of Brookfield.

He attends Brookfield R-III High School where he wrestles.

In addition, he's an Eagle Scout and active on the student council.

Blakely’s nomination is now in the hands of the Air Force Academy.
