PUTNAM COUNTY, MO. -- UPDATE:  Funeral services are now set for the young northeast Missouri boy who died in an apparent accidental shooting Tuesday evening at his home outside Powersville.

The funeral for Rowdee Valentine, 8, is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Midway Baptist Church west of Unionville, Missouri.

Visitation will be at the church from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.

Rowdee is the son of Robbie and Kelly Valentine.

He has one brother, Gus, and two sisters, Chelsey and Lexi.

Rowdee was a student at Putnam County Elementary.

Memorials are suggested to the school's library, the Midway Baptist Church playground fund or the Putnam County Fair.

The service is being handled by the Playle-Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville.

An apparent accidental shooting in Putnam County Tuesday evening left a young boy dead.

Authorities said the victim is Rowdee Valentine, 8, who was a student at Putnam County Elementary in Unionville.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.

We are told the shooting happened at the Valentine family's home outside Powersville.

A firearm in the home was reportedly discharged by one of Rowdee's older brothers.

Putnam County Sheriff Jason Knight told KTVO he is not able to release any details about the fatal shooting at the request of Putnam County Prosecutor Tom Keedy.

He said Keedy wants to wait until the investigation is completed before releasing any information to the public.

Putnam County Schools Superintendent Heath Halley said the school had counselors on hand all day Wednesday to meet with students who needed someone to talk to about the tragedy.

Halley praised his staff for the great job they did in this time of crisis.

Funeral services for Rowdee Valentine are pending at the Playle-Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville.

A spokesman said he has not yet met with the Valentine family, and he wasn’t sure yet when they would be in to make funeral arrangements.
