KIRKSVILLE, MO -- The legislative session begins in January and State Representative-elect Nate Walker has been busy since his election.

The day after the election, Walker went to Jefferson City for a caucus meeting.

For the last week he's been on a freshmen tour with other new elects.

"This was a bipartisan trip, so we talked about different issues," Walker said. "Certainly family values, and family values are tied closely with the economy. If people don't have jobs, that creates some problems at home."

Walker said they traveled to all parts of Missouri including the Springfield, Kansas City and St. Louis areas.

"It was kind of neat to get out and see all the new legislators that were elected throughout the state, we have almost 60 new legislators throughout the state, from both parties," said Walker.

Walker plans to expand his campaign promises by bringing the economy and education to the forefront at the state capital. He added that he will also fight to strengthen North Missouri communities.

Walker will be sworn in January 9, 2013, the same day the legislative session begins.
