Members of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 775 in Ottumwa reflected on Friday.

“We lost a lot of people there. We still got one ship. It sank but it’s still commissioned. They were not ever taken out of commission because all them bodies, there were 2,000 bodies in it in Arizona that'll never be raised. We just should show respect for every person in the service from this day on,” said Larry Eakins, VFW Post #775.

Eakins is a veteran of the Vietnam War.

So take the time to remember and pay respect to all of those that have served our country and those that are overseas currently serving our country.
