KIRKSVILLE, MO -- The Thanksgiving holiday weekend is the busiest of the year, and for drivers in the Heartland, they are going to need to be extra cautious on U.S. 63 Monday.

The Missouri Department of Transportation will be conducting a road safety audit at various intersections along the highway Monday.

Participating in the audit are members from the law enforcement community, engineers and safety and maintenance personnel.

The group is going to be reviewing several intersections along the highway and look at safety issues that exist, and find possible solutions to improve the conditions.

In northeast Missouri, the group will be reviewing intersections in Atlanta, La Plata and Lancaster.

If you happen to see the audit group on or near the roadway, make sure you slow down to ensure their safety as well as yours.
