Thanksgiving Day arrest leads to meth and weapons charges

OTTUMWA, IOWA -- On Saturday, Wapello County Sheriff Mark Miller informed KTVO that an Ottumwa man was arrested on drug and weapons charges.

On Thursday, November 22, the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 6000 block of Cliffland Road. In the vehicle was passenger Lorenzo Gabriel Langarcia, 19, of Ottumwa.

During the traffic stop, Langarcia was arrested for Possession with the intent to deliver 5 grams or more of Methamphetamine, a Class B felony; and Possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to Sheriff Miller, Langarcia was also charged with Carrying Weapons and Theft in the 4th degree, after Langarcia was arrested and searched, deputies found a loaded and stolen semi-automatic pistol on Langarcia. The pistol had been reported stolen to the Ottumwa Police Department on October 10.

As of Saturday, Langarcia is being held in the Wapello County Jail on a $100,000 cash only bond.
