Body discovered on Ottumwa's south-end, no foul play suspected

OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Police in Ottumwa are looking into a case involving a body that was discovered on Ottumwa’s south-end.

Lt. Tom McAndrew with the Ottumwa Police Department says that officers were called to the scene, near Mary and Ransom Street, early Wednesday morning, where they found a body lying on the sidewalk.

McAndrew says that no foul play is suspected; however, he says that the investigation is ongoing.

The name of the deceased is not being released until family members are notified.



Press release from the Ottumwa Police Department:

On November 14th, 2012, at approximately 5:45 AM, the Ottumwa Police Department received a call reporting an individual lying on the sidewalk at Mary and Ransom Streets in Ottumwa.  Upon officers arriving on scene, they discovered the individual was deceased.  Based on the preliminary investigation, no foul play is suspected in the death.  The investigation is ongoing at this time.  The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family.
