KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- This Christmas you can give a gift to a child all the way in Rwanda!

It’s called Operation Christmas Child.

From November 12 until November 19 at the Rehoboth Baptist Church you can drop off boxes containing clothes, school supplies, toys and anything else you think a child might love to receive for Christmas.

Last year the northeast Missouri area collected more than 1,200 boxes.

The boxes from this area go to children in Albania, Brazil, Colombia, Haiti, Kenya, Niger, Rwanda, Suriname, Togo and Uganda.

“We should donate because children overseas don't have what we have,” Coordinator for the Northeast Missouri Region Joanne Louder said. “Kids don't have toys; so many times we see videos of the kids over there opening (them). And, there so happy with what they get. No matter how small, no matter how large they're just as happy.”

After the boxes leave Kirksville they are sent to Columbia and then they are shipped to Minneapolis.

From there, they go through every box and place a bible in the language of the area they are sending it to.

And, you can track where your box goes with a barcode number.

You can drop your items off at the church from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
