KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Sunday across the nation, Americans came together to thank those who have served our country, including right here in the Heartland.

Veterans dressed in uniform, attended Sunday service at the Illinois Bend Community Church in Kirksville.

The church service was dedicated to the brave men and women who served and who help keep America what it is today.

Those gathered also paid tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

"Those who serve, pay many prices for all those for all those who did not. Those who serve, their spouses, kids, and families have paid a price as well. That's something we do not realize," said Pastor John Davison.

All the veterans posed for a group picture and were treated to a home cooked breakfast afterward.
