KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Motorcyclists from all over the Heartland took to the road all for a wonderful cause this weekend.

The 26th Annual Freedom of Road Riders Toy Run took place early Sunday afternoon.

In Kirksville, about 60 motorcycles rode through the city on Baltimore, La Harpe and Osteopathy Streets before arriving at their final destination of the Kirksville Salvation Army to drop off donations of food and toys for needy families and kids for the upcoming holiday season.

The group says this shows the softer side of motorcyclists and they are just like anybody else trying to make a difference in the community.

"This is our premiere event. We like it. It's one of our service events for the area that really makes us feel good and gets us pumped up for the rest of the year," said Steven King of Freedom of Road Riders.

Motorcyclists came from all over the northeast Missouri area for Sunday's event.

The Freedom of Road Riders is planning to do this event once again next year.
