ATLANTA, MO. -- A crash on Highway 63 in Atlanta Thursday morning sent three people to the hospital.

Emergency crews, including Air Evac, were called to the scene at the intersection of Highway 63 and Route M.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a car driven by Mary Schauperl, 36, of Atlanta pulled from Route M into the path of a minivan that was southbound on Highway 63.

The minivan was driven by a 41-year-old woman named Leigh Branstetter of Kirksville.

Schauperl was thrown from her car in the crash.

She was flown from the scene by Air Evac to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries.

A condition report was not available from the hospital.

Branstetter and a passenger in her vehicle, Virgil Harrison, 68, also of Kirksville, were taken to Northeast Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.

A hospital spokeswoman told KTVO both were treated and released.

The crash happened at 9:35 a.m. Thursday.
