South Kirksville businesses
KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- One project of the South 63 Corridor in Kirksville is complete while another still sits in the balance.
Thursday morning, the Community Improvement District met and announced that the sidewalk and turf project has been completed.
A big plus to this project being completed is that it came in under budget.
"It came in under budget, so we had some additional funds that were available," said Asst. City Manager Melanie Smith. "What that means to the C.I.D. is that we will be able to pay off the loan through the cost share program earlier. So instead of financing it for ten years, the loan will be financed in seven."
A ribbon cutting ceremony will likely take place for that project sometime on the first of November. As for the facade design for the businesses in the T.I.F. (Tax Increment Financing) district which includes Sears, JC Penney's, Glick and Goody's, how that will be handled has yet to be determined.
City officials say when they meet again in the new year those plans will come a little bit more into focus.
