OTTUMWA, IOWA -- It’s an exciting time for the Ottumwa City Council, as the Capital Improvements Program will be discussed Monday evening at its regularly schedule city council meeting
It is a two-year program where the city will bond for a certain amount of money determined by the council, usually around four to five million dollars, and with that money they will take on some of the larger projects in the community.
Officials said it’s very much like a home improvement loan.
“It’s really kind of an exciting time for the council because they have a laundry list of projects that could be done. A number of them are street projects. We've had ongoing programs for dilapidated housing the council has funded year after year and really these are kind of extracurricular,” said Tom Rodgers, Ottumwa Public Information Officer.
At the meeting, the council will be discussing the projects that they would like to be seen done such as construction on the Market St. Bridge.
Rodgers said street repairs are always one of the big items on the list.
