KIRKSVILLE, MO -- One Kirksville organization gave people a chance to travel around the world without ever leaving.

The Kirksville Rotary Club held a "Taste of the World" event at Pickler's Famous early Saturday evening.

Participants got a chance to try food samples of different backgrounds - including locally owned restaurants.

Organizers planned this event to show the community how much diversity Kirksville has.

"Kirksville and northeast Missouri is an international place to be with Truman State and A.T.S.U. international students attending our colleges and universities here. It's a nice fit for Rotary that's about international service and reaching out around the globe," said Event Chair and Rotary Member Mark Burger.

The event also gave the public a chance to see what the rotary club is all about and what they do as a service organization.

Rotary hopes that this will become an annual event.
