DOUDS, IOWA -- A southeast Iowa man is going to call a federal prison cell home for the next several years after he was sentenced on drug and firearms offenses.

On Thursday, a federal judge sentenced Jeffrey Lee Himes, 44, of Douds to nine years behind bars.

Himes had previously pleaded guilty to conspiring to manufacture methamphetamine and to unlawfully possessing a firearm as a felon.

An investigation by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies revealed that from December 2010 to December 2011 Himes and others manufactured more than 200 grams of meth in Van Buren County.

Federal prosecutors said Himes made the meth in and near his Douds residence using pseudoephedrine pills purchased by

co-conspirators.

Authorities said he then distributed the meth to others.
