KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A lot of downtown property owners take time to beautify the area and make sure it's kept clean.

But, when the owner of Hidden Treasures consignment shop went to work Thursday morning she found someone had knocked over and destroyed several of her flower pots.

“We'll it's disturbing because it's so much pressure on downtown businesses to beautify downtown, revitalize downtown, and so we go all out and do that,” Sherry Stacey said. “I mean those pots are $70 a piece. That’s just the pot; forget the dirt and the flowers and everything. It may seem small and insignificant, but it isn’t. When every dollar counts, that represents hundreds of dollars out there to help do what were ask to do. And then for someone to destroy it for fun, I don't understand that.”

Sweet Espressions coffee house across the street from hidden treasures also had its flower pots knocked over, but because they were plastic they didn't break.

Police say they have no leads at this time, and this type of vandalism doesn't happen often in downtown Kirksville.
