KIRKSVILLE, MO -- You may have noticed them while pumping gas, or maybe you haven't, but those who are in a wheelchair, or who have children with them, this assistance may be a great help.
The Hy-Vee gas station in Kirksville has installed Fuel Call for those who need assistance.
“(It’s) there for the handicapped and for mother’s to be, or if they have children in the car,” Becky Barnes Hy-Vee Department Fuel Manager said. “We can go out and pump their gas for them and bring the money in (we) do everything for them. Then they don't have to leave their kids in the car, or people that are disabled or elderly don't have to get out of their cars.”
Barnes said they have had it for about a year now and more people are beginning to use it.
Fuel Call is only on pumps three and four, but all of the other pumps have a call button you can use.
Barnes said the sign says they will only help from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., but they will help at anytime.
