KIRKSVILLE -- Liberty Utilities held a ribbon cutting Tuesday at their Kirksville location.

On August 1, Liberty Utilities completed its $124 million acquisition of Atmos Energy’s natural gas distribution business in Illinois, Iowa and Missouri. Across the three states, 38 new jobs are expected to be created.

At the ribbon cutting, Liberty said transition is going smoothly and they are committed to the community.

“We want to try and be as local as possible. The decisions for our customers here in the state of Missouri, will be made by people here in Missouri. It’s not going to be some place far off distant company that people are not able to get in touch with, it will be local,” Liberty Utilities Communications Steve Green said.

Green says Liberty is committed to being as involved in the community as possible, giving it that local touch.
