OTTUMWA, IOWA -- With temperatures beginning to feel more like fall, the Ottumwa Rotary Club is already preparing for the 33rd annual Chicken Barbecue on Tuesday, October 2.
More than 4,200 chickens will be served in the Market St. parking lot.
All of the money raised will go straight back into the Ottumwa community.
And you can bet that Rotary Club members will be firing up their grills early in the morning preparing for the around 4,000 people they will feed.
“This year we'll be starting at 4:30 to 7 will be serving times. We do have drive-thru available, come in on Mclean St. down Gateway Dr. along the sea wall and we have usually three or four drive-thru lanes set up and we will start serving the drive-thru lanes at 4 pm,” said Lee Johns, Ottumwa Rotary Club.
Tickets are $8 in advance or $9 the day of at the tent.
