Non-profit celebrates Direct Support Professionals Week

KIRKSVILLE, MO -- A northeast area non-profit enjoyed a day outside as they honored employees in conjunction with National Direct Support Professionals Week.

Around 100 people turned out for the parking lot BBQ at Chariton Valley Association in Kirksville on Friday.

The non-profit organization serves Adair County individuals with developmental disabilities as Friday's lunch was to support the more than 130 Kirksville employees.

"The people we support really appreciate this as well," said Chariton Valley Association's Executive Director Terry Combs. "They get to come out and thank their staff and have a meal with them as well." 

Also during the lunch, door prizes were given out.

The employee of the year was announced along with staff members with that have reached 5,10, and 15 years of service.
