KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- After one month of starting the new semester, Truman State University is getting ready for a big weekend.
This upcoming weekend is the annual Family Weekend at the university to give parents a chance to come back and see how their kids are adjusting to life in college.
There are lots of events planned such as a bbq, sport meets, including the big football game on Saturday night, and a chance to attend the Red Barn Arts and Crafts Festival in downtown Kirksville on Saturday.
School officals want parents and students to enjoy life on campus and around Kirksville.
"It's a celebration of community both for Truman and Kirksville. I just hope these parents come back and have a wonderful time and really feel proud of the university their sons and daughters are attending and what they are accomplishing here in Kirksville," said Truman State President Troy Paino.
The university is hoping this weekend will bring a big economic boost to Kirksville's economy with the hundreds of parents that will be staying in the local hotels, eating at local resturants, and shopping in local businesses.
