OTTUMWA, IOWA -- One couple has turned their love for hogs, the two-wheeled kind that is, into a fundraiser.

This weekend marks the 9th Annual Hogs 4 Dogs USA Benefit Motorcycle Ride to raise money for area pets.

John and Tammie Hartley started the fundraiser nine years ago and last year the cycle ride part of the event drew nearly 300 motorcycle and pet enthusiasts.

So how does the money raised actually get used?

"We help humane societies through-out Southeast Iowa with food and litter needs. We help with emergency vet care, we pay for spay and neutering and we also have purchased oxygen masks for pets. We have distributed those throughout Southeast Iowa to fire and rescue units," Tammy Hartley said.
