BLOOMFIELD, IA -- The 31st annual Iowa Donkey and Mule Society State Show is going on this weekend.
Starting this morning, breeders from Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, and Illinois among others brought their best donkeys and mules to be judged at the Davis County fairgrounds.
There were many categories and the show runs into tomorrow.
Vendors like Reed Tack set up shop selling any leather products that breeders needed for their foals.
Show announcer Mike Metcalf told me they recieved a $4,000 payback on the mules for this show, which is a nice success.
Trophy saddles will be awarded to the winners.
The saddles are dedicated in memory of Sheila and Dwyane 'Bird' Ellison, two society members, who died in a Moravia fire five months ago.
