KIRKSVILLE, MO -- With new college students moving into Kirksville for the new school year, the city is planning to help them feel right at home.

For the sixth year in a row, the Kirksville Area Chamber of Commerce is holding its New Student Welcome event on Thursday, September 6 from 5-7 p.m.

Students from A.T. Still University, Truman State University and Moberly Area Community College are encouraged to come out to the downtown courthouse square for an evening of fun and getting to know local businesses and the services they offer.

"It's great when you are new to a community and feel like you are wanted here. Over these next few years, we will be getting revenue from those students so we need to make them feel welcomed," said Kirksville Chamber of Commerce Excutive Director Sandra Williams.

Last year, about 42 businesses participated in the New Student Welcome event.

If you're interested in having your business be represented in this year's event, just call the chamber at (660) 665-3766.
