FAIRFIELD, IOWA -- Hundreds turned out Saturday afternoon at the Hy-Vee in Fairfield to wish Paralympian Matt Stutzman good luck as he heads to London to compete in the 2012 Paralympic games.

Despite being born without arms, Stutzman is one of the best archers in the world. As the crowd gathered Saturday, Stutzman talked a little bit about how he learned how to train with the bow and arrow, but also talked about how he lives life to the fullest, despite having to use his feet for everyday tasks.

Hy-Vee store manager Alan Shank told KTVO that he was so happy and impressed to see the large crowd that gathered at the store to wish Stuzman good luck in London.

“It is real nice to support Matt. He is a local person and we are proud of him, so we want him to feel the support we have for him here and we were real lucky to get him to come today and do this for us. It is amazing that they, the community, have come to support him like this, and they are interested, and he is a real nice guy,” Shank said.

Stutzman leaves for London in three days, where he will compete against three of the top archers in the world. Stutzman will be shooting over 70 times, which he says sometimes does make his toes sore. Stutzman says that he hopes to bring home the gold medal to Fairfield when he returns from London.
