KIRKSVILLE, MO -- The family-owned lumber company, Hartzell, has purchased Kirksville, Mo.-based Reliant Hardwoods and plans to bring new jobs.

The company’s core business is “purchasing, processing, and selling hardwood lumber worldwide,” according to a press release from the Hartzell Company.

The president of Hartzell Hardwoods, John Owsiany, says purchasing Reliant Hardwoods is an important strategic step to grow its hardwood lumber business. Owsiany also says its strategic plan is to invest a significant amount of capital in the Kirksville facility to increase capacity and during the next 12 months they will double the number of employees.

Hartzell manufacturing facilities are located in Ohio, Indiana, Arkansas, Missouri and Singapore.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
