KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Training and developing a capital improvement plan are some of the top priorities for some of the members of the Enhanced 911 Joint Services Board.

The board met Wednesday afternoon at the Kirksville City Hall.

Chris Killday with Adair County Central Dispatch reports that during the month of June and July, central dispatch recorded 2,360 calls for help.

Killday said the department will be fully staffed by September with the addition of two new employees.

From Sept. 19-21, Killday, along with dispatcher Carol Richardson,  will attend Missouri's first communication conference in Joplin, where they hope to learn tips how on to respond to natural disasters such as a tornado.

Also, at least two dispatchers will attend an ITI CAD system training session in September. This is the fairly new computer system central dispatch uses to log their calls.

In other news, Killday said the new T-Mobile tower behind Kirksville City Hall is up and running. Dispatch will now be able to track T-mobile callers when they make calls to 911.

Later this month, and in September, the board will go over the Director's evaluation, along with present a capital improvement plan. In September, the board will work on next year's budget.

Also mentioned during the meeting, the city of Kirksville may receive a new ISO (Insurance Services Offices) rating. Fire Chief Randy Behrens said it is in the early stages and won't take effect until Nov. 1, 2012, but it appears that the city's rating will go from a class four rating to a class three rating, which means that commercial entities could receive cheaper insurance rates . Behrens said more on this topic will  be presented in October, during a city council meeting.
