NEAR LA PLATA, MO. -- The second suspect from last week’s manhunt near La Plata has been arrested. George Heller Jr., 29 of Kirksville, is believed to be the second person who fled the scene of a traffic stop early Tuesday morning.

Heller is on 24-hour hold pending the filing of formal charges for last week's incident.

Heller also has four outstanding warrants from the City of Kirksville.

Meanwhile, another felony charge has been filed against Jeffrey Sharp, 31, of La Plata. Sharp was captured during the manhunt last week. He is now facing a frlony charge of resisting arrest.

The manhunt began after Sharp and Heller allegedly ran from a traffic stop.

Officers from the Adair and Macon County Sheriff's offices, along with several other agencies, were involved in the search. Sharp was taken into custody near Santa Fe Lake just east of La Plata.

Sharp had a pending felony charge of receiving stolen property at the time of the traffic stop. Sharp remains in custody on $50,000 cash only bond.

After the two fled, deputies discovered items known to be used in the manufacture of methamphetamine in the abandoned vehicle.
