LANCASTER, MO -- The Missouri primary elections are next Tuesday and if you cannot make it to the polls that day, don’t worry, you can still cast your vote by absentee ballot.

“Absentee voting is still going on. It goes on until the day before the election. We are not able to send out any by mail right now because that deadline was on Wednesday. Voters can come in and vote during normal hours to absentee vote,” said Schuyler County Clerk Bree Shaw.

Absentee ballots must be received by 5 p.m. on Monday before election day. Also be sure to follow all the rules on your election form and fill out all necessary areas or your vote could be left out.

To assure the voting process is smooth it is important to have some form of identification whether it is a voter identification card, driver’s license, or something else that shows the election judges who the voter is.

Every voter should have a voter identification card that came to them through the mail. If someone did not receive it, they need to contact their county clerk’s office or if they lost it contact them to get a new one.

On every voter identification card it lists what precinct to vote in. If voters do not have their card or lost it they can call the county clerk’s office for more information.

When voters go to the polls, they open at six in the morning and close at seven in the evening. They will need to educate themselves before they go to the polls. They need to know what type of ballet they want to vote; whether it is Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Constitution, or Not Partisan.

It is important to remember that voters are not registered under any party and may choose any ballet they want.
