KIRKSVILLE, MO -- KTVO teamed-up with the American Red Cross for the annual Media Blood Drive.

The blood drive took place Wednesday at the Kirksville Middle School.

People stopped by all afternoon and donated blood.

Dan Fox of The American Red Cross said the blood drive was a total success with many people donating.

"We are very much in need of all blood types. Not just one or two specific types, but all blood types. Based on the population that has come through here today, we're positive that we are getting all blood types," Fox said.

Food and drinks were provided, and all donors received a free St. Louis Cardinals t-shirt.

The goal for this year was more than 250 units of blood.

The American Red Cross says the blood drive had 201 participants with 179 usable units.
