KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI -- Another delay in the case of long time Kirksville dentist Steve Barber. The Missouri Appeals Court for the Western District has ruled in favor of a motion by the state, for additional time to file paperwork in court.

The state had requested extra time to file a response to a motion filed by Barber’s defense attorney. The state will now have until August 15 to file a response.

Barber was convicted in June of last year, on two counts of tampering with a witness. The conviction was in connection with an effort by Barber to convince the victims in the case of the late Tom Oswald, to not cooperate with the prosecution.

Barber was sentenced last August to five years in prison on each count, with the sentences to be served at the same time.

Barber is currently free on $5000 bond pending his appeal of the conviction.
