MACON, MO -- An area church was rocking as they used song, praise and dance to bring their community together.

Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Macon held their first Choir and Praise Dance Day Saturday afternoon.

Ten churches from the surrounding area and, even members from a church in Quincy made their way to town to share in the celebration.

The afternoon was spent praising the lord with dance and song.

The minister of music says the fun event allows people to get away from any hardships they're dealing with.

"We just want to get our community together," said Holy Trinity Baptist Church Music Minister James Tolson. "You know they did this during the depression. A lot of times you'd go down to the movie theatre and, they'd be sing-a-longs just to keep the spirits up. That's what we're trying to do here."

Tolson said each church group picks a different selection based on whatever they think will animate the crowd.
