ELDON, IOWA -- After a clinic operated by Ottumwa Regional closed two years ago, doors are once again open to patients.
The Eldon outreach of the Fairfield Clinic opened for business Tuesday, and residents of the small town could not be happier.
"The city of Eldon is a lot of elderly population, which has transportation needs," said Mayor Shirley Stacey. "[It's] just nice to have local physicians, or physicians that are here to service our clinic, and be available to the people who don't have transportation, or that may well be patients in the Fairfield clinic, but yet can stay in their own town to visit their physicians."
For now, the clinic is open Tuesdays and Fridays from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and limited walk-ins are available.
"Long-term, I would love to see that clinic open five days a week, with some varied hours, but I know it's one step at a time on how we can do things and see how it goes," Stacey said.
The clinic has already agreed to do summer physicals for the Cardinal School District.
To make an appointment, call 641-472-4141 and ask for the Eldon Clinic.
