KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Two people were sent to the hospital in a late Monday morning fire at the Sinclair gas station in Kirksville.

Two streets were blocked off for a period of time as a call came in around 10:45.

Charles Morris, the owner of Morris Oil, and Roger Treasure, one of his employees, suffered burn injuries on their arms and hands.

Morris was released, and Treasure was transpored to the Burn Center in Columbia.

He's currently is good condition.

The fire began when the two men were cutting a line with a cutoff grinder.

As they went to remove the line, they shut off the wrong one which ignited the fire.

"It appears there was a line ruptured on a kerosene going into the main tank," said Randy Behrens the Kirksville Fire Chief. "We were able to put the fire out and contain the runoff."

The fire was put out ten minutes later.

There was not significant damage done as nothing was lost other than fuel.
