KIRKSVILLE, MO -- A homeless man is in jail after Kirksville Police allegedly found meth in his possession. If convicted, he could face up to life in prison.

The incident happened around 10 Sunday night. A Kirksville Police officer spotted a man pushing a scooter missing a front headlight on the east side of the north interchange of Highway 63. When the officer turned on his lights, he said the suspect then shoved the scooter into a ditch.

After searching the scooter, police and sheriff deputies called to the scene allegedly found anhydrous ammonia and other chemicals used to manufacture meth, along with methamphetamine.

According to Kirksville Police, arrested in the incident is 43- year-old Bradley Wilkins. He has been charged with attempt to manufacture a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine.

Wilkins has been convicted in 2005 of possession of a controlled substance, and in 1997 of distribution/manufacture of a controlled substance. If he is convicted again, he could face up to life in prison.

Wilkins remains in the Adair County Jail on a $75,000 cash-only bond.
