MEMPHIS, MISSOURI -- A long time Heartland businessman is facing a sex related felony charge in connection with an alleged incident involving a young girl.

James Wood, 72, of Memphis, Missouri, is charged with first degree child molestation. Wood owns Wood's Flying Service. It is alleged that Wood subjected the 12-year-old victim to sexual contact by touching her breasts and genital area. The investigation of the incident began with a hotline call to the Missouri Department of Family Services.

Wood was originally being held under $50,000 cash only bond. During a phone conference Wood's attorney made a motion to change bond to $100,000 with 10% allowed, which the judge approved over the objection of the prosecutor, he was then released on a $10,000 cash bond.

Wood is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on July 3rd in Scotland County Associate Circuit Court.
