KIRKSVILLE, MO, -- There were plenty of pancakes and sausage to go around at Saturday morning's Kirksville Optimist Club Pancake Breakfast.
The breakfast is the organization's largest fundraiser of the year. This year, more than 400 more people came out to support and organizers said they have raised more than $2,000.
Organizers said having sunny weather Saturday morning and the Farmer's market nearby helped make the event successful.
"Compared to last year, it's fantastically better because last year, we had rain where we had to throw everything across the street into Pickler's Famous place," said Richard Detweiler, Mayor of Kirksville, and President of the Kirksville Optimist Club. "But in previous years, it's about on par with the same numbers and stuff. Everybody's happy and getting their fill of good food and we're very happy."
A large portion of the proceeds from the breakfast will go towards the Kirksville R-III Booster Club and the Forest Lake Area Trail System Project.
