ARBELA, MO. -- A now-former northeast Missouri teacher is facing sex-related charges in connection with his alleged behavior toward a female student.

Corey Stott, 37, of Arbela is charged with a felony count of sexual conduct with a student while on school property and a misdemeanor count of third-degree sexual misconduct.

According to court papers, Stott is accused of improperly touching the female student on two separate occasions: once while on a school bus on a school function, and another time while in the Vo-Ag classroom.

Stott was the Vo-Ag instructor and FFA adviser at Scotland County High School at the time of the incidents.

Stott is also accused of sending text messages to the victim that allegedly contained graphic sexual content.

The Scotland County School Board met in a special closed meeting Sunday and voted to accept Stott's resignation.

Stott was released from jail Thursday afternoon after posting bond.

June 26, 2012, is the date set for his first court appearance.
