BURLINGTON, IOWA (AP) -- A 32-year-old inmate has been listed as escaped because he didn't return to the Iowa work release facility in Burlington.

The Iowa Corrections Department said Thursday in a news release that Maurice Lewis didn't return from an appointment on Wednesday.

The department says Lewis had been transferred to work release in February. His five-year prison term began in August 2010 after his conviction in Des Moines County. He was found guilty of domestic abuse assault-third or subsequent offense.

Information as to Lewis’ whereabouts should be reported to the Burlington Police Department or Des Moines County Sheriff’s Department.
