APPANOOSE COUNTY, IOWA -- Rhett Sandner, 22, of Centerville; Clifford Ruckman 20, of Centerville; and Timothy Hatfied, 25, of Centerville were arrested for criminal mischief in the 2nd degree and obstruction of emergency communications.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 27000 Block of Highway 5, south of Centerville, Wednesday evening for the report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, a sheriff’s deputy observed a vehicle leaving the area.

During an investigation at the scene, the deputy found a twenty-five pair telephone line had been cut under a bridge on Highway 5. The line serviced the Cincinnati area and local 911 services.

Sandner and Ruckman were release by the court on their own recognizance and Hatfield is being held in the Appanoose County Jail on $5,300 bond.
