ADAIR COUNTY, MO -- Memorial Day is always a big weekend for Thousand Hills State Park, but this year officials say it was one of the best holiday weekend's they've seen.

The combination of clear skies and warm weather contributed to a very strong showing over the extended weekend.

Park officials say judging from boat and shelter reservations they knew they would have a strong Memorial Day crowd, but they were still really impressed with the business they had.

"It was probably the best four days we've had in several year," said Steven Kolb. "The park was full of people. The campgrounds and cabins were full, and we had people boating. We had no accidents, everything went really smooth. It was a good crowd."

Kolb says during a big weekend, he is usually checking the weather numerous times an hour hoping the weather will cooperate.
