CANTRIL, IOWA -- It’s called the Waubonsie Trail Rendezvous.

People started setting up camp on Thursday afternoon at the Waubonsie Trail Park and the festivities ran through the weekend until late Monday afternoon.

The infamous candy cannon was shot off numerous times. It was a huge hit for the kids as the candy fell to the ground. And for the adults, there were real cannons fired.

“We teach people the way things used to be in pre 1840's mountain man period. We do a lot of Native American stuff because that's the way it was. They taught the mountain men how to survive and what we do is we like to keep those skills and the things mountain men did also with what we do here,” said Tim Fortney, Waubonsie Trail Rendezvous organizer.

Fortney said a lot of those in attendance this weekend were veterans which made it even more special for everyone to come together at the rendezvous.

A Memorial Day service was held Monday morning to honor all of those that have served the United States.
