OTTUMWA, IOWA -- The streets of downtown Ottumwa were bustling and full of life on Saturday all part of the Upstairs Downtown event put on by Main Street Ottumwa.

Patrons could walk around at their own leisure to the five buildings downtown that were in various stages of renovation.

This is part of Main Street Ottumwa’s goal to revitalize downtown Ottumwa and bring more businesses and tenants to the area.

“It's one of those perfect opportunities to come down and see what everybody's been talking about that's going on downtown. You know -- it's one thing when you hear it, it's another completely when you have the opportunity to see it and you really do understand all the changes that are going on and all the businesses and the people that are involved in making that happen,” said Cindy Woodbury, Executive Director of Main Street Ottumwa.

The event went on from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Woodbury said 100 tickets were sold in advance and many more were expected to be bought the day of, as well.
