KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- With summer break right around the corner, many parents are wondering what they can do the keep their kids busy and active. How about summer camp?

The Adair County Family YMCA in Kirksville is offering the summer day camp, Camp Northern Star, once again this year.

The camp kicks off June 4th and runs until August 10th.

You don’t have to be a member to register your child, but space is limited.

During the camp the kids will get a chance to enjoy a wide variety of activities.

“Throughout the day they will be outside as much as possible, weather permitting, but they'll do games with other kids and they'll do some crafts,” said YMCA Membership and Wellness Coordinator, Diane Corder. ”They'll go swimming a lot this year and we'll take them on different field trips around the community.”

The Y also offers an enrichment camp where the kids will do several outdoor activities that include sports, kayaking and archery.

The camp is all about a wide variety of fun activities both indoor and outdoor, and camp coordinators say the kids come back every year wanting more.

“The kids really enjoy it and it’s really cool to watch them as they come in and ask who the counselors are going to be, and they talk about the memories of doing different things from the years before,” Corder said. “We get really positive feedback from the kids and it’s really cool to watch them as they grow."
