OTTUMWA, IOWA -- This Saturday, you are invited to tour many of downtown Ottumwa’s lofts that have been or are being revamped for the Upstairs Downtown event sponsored by Main Street Ottumwa.
President of the Main Street Ottumwa Board Fred Zesiger said this is a chance for people to see the great things happening downtown and hopefully attract more businesses and tenants to the area.
“Then above Appanoose Rapids here there’s four units being worked on that aren't done yet but should be done by the end of the year. That space has been on the tour before so it'll give the people a chance to see how far we've come and then last year the KMGO building was on it and this year will be very close to being finished if not finished,” said Zesiger.
There will be five buildings on the tour which guests can walk through at their own leisure.
You may want to bring your checkbook just in case.
“We actually had one person that purchased the building and his building was on the tour last year. He came the first year that we had it. So I think it's a real exciting time in downtown. There's a lot of activity going on and hopefully here before too long they'll be a lot more activity. We've got the Market on Main that'll be starting hopefully in the fall across the street,” said Zesiger.
More than 200 hundred people are expected to attend. The event goes from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance or on the day of at the Hotel Ottumwa.
