Deer damage in downtown Memphis
MEMPHIS, MO -- Repairs are being made in downtown Memphis after damage to several buildings, and one business even had an intruder.
However, this wasn't necessarily your typical suspects.
Two deer were the culprits, and one of them found itself inside of Ketchum Heating and Cooling.
It eventually broke through the front glass and into the street.
Before that the two caused damage to other businesses on the square.
For those at Ketchum's, they found themselves very lucky that the damage was not much worse
"Very fortunate," said store manager, Marsha Monroe. "We aren't going to have any deer sales or anything like that. We had some old appliances and it jumped over it. It didn't even damage them, so it was very fortunate."
Talking with Marsha this afternoon, she thought they would have no more than $400 of damage to the window and door.
She also is thankful for all the community help.
It took about two hours to get things cleaned and boarded up.,
During the clean up process, one mennonite resident had to be sent to the hospital after getting a piece of glass lodged in his chest.
A rough estimate of total damage for the storefronts alone, is $3,000-$4000.
That does not include any interior damage or damaged merchandise.
