BLOOMFIELD, IOWA -- The Bloomfield Library is moving forward in its plan to expand and remodel the building.

The current plan is divided into two phases that will not only give the library a face-lift, but bring the building up to code for ADA regulations.

A meeting held today went over the designs for the interior redecoration, which will maintain the building's historic and recognizable look.

"The palette we selected are modern, new materials with a little bit of some traditional colors worked in there to harkens back to the original library, the terracotta roof kind of inspired our color choice," said Jason Cave, an architect on the project.

The project and design goes up for bid next week, and after a 30-45 day period, a contractor will be assigned based on the lowest bid price.

The library hopes to begin construction this summer and they will hold a silent auction May 5 to continue to raise money.

Library trustee Paul Fleetwood told KTVO in February that the final product will give the citizens of Bloomfield the library they deserve.
